Dry Eye Evaluation

Dry eye is a common condition in which the eyes are insufficiently lubricated, leading to itching, redness and pain. Dry eye treatment is not one size fits all since this condition can be caused by several different factors. By determining the exact cause of the dry eye disease, we can tailor your treatment regimen to optimize results.

InflammaDry®

InflammaDry® is an in-office test that detects an inflammatory marker called MMP-9 that is consistently elevated in the tears of patients with dry eye disease. Results are achieved in just 10 minutes. If these inflammatory markers are present, drops that decrease inflammation will be prescribed.

TearLab®

TearLab® Osmolarity System measures the osmolarity or salt content of tears. This measurement can indicate the balance of tear production, evaporation, drainage, and absorption

TearLab not only helps with the initial diagnosis with objective data, but also the treatment plan.  Regular testing can also help monitor the effectiveness of treatment. Low and stable tear osmolarity is the goal to ensure a stable tear film and healthy ocular surface.
